You're right, you can go from MyISAM to INNODB but not viceversa, sorry. That's because the official documentation doesn't recommend doing that. So you may still try to do it, but please make sure to backup your data first and take all the precautions necessary to keep your information safe.
About the database option, we may have something ready by the end of this week, or next week at max.
